Fred Love’s life is rooted in resilience, faith, and perseverance. At just four years old, he survived a devastating car accident that left him with lasting injuries—yet through determination and the strength instilled by his mother, he overcame the odds. Raised in a household that faced real hardship—nights spent in a car, meals split three ways, and moments without electricity—Fred learned early what it means to endure and push forward. His mother, Sandra, carried their family through those challenges with unwavering faith and a simple guiding principle that still defines Fred’s life today: “Be in service to mankind.” That lesson became the foundation of everything he would go on to do.
Raised at St. Paul United Methodist Church and shaped by time on his grandparents’ farm, Fred learned the value of hard work, discipline, and community. His grandfather taught him the dignity of labor, while his grandmother showed him the importance of compassion and generosity—lessons that would stay with him for life.Education opened doors, but not without struggle. Fred worked his way through school—flipping burgers at McDonald’s, taking out loans, and relying on support from those around him. After nearly losing his path, he found his calling in public service.Through AmeriCorps, the Arkansas Food Bank, and Pulaski County, Fred saw firsthand how thoughtful leadership and access to resources can change lives. These experiences shaped his belief that government, when done right, can be a force for good.
As a legislator, Fred turned his values into action—delivering real results for the communities he serves. He built the Southwest Health Unit, helped bring an Arkansas Children’s Hospital clinic to Southwest Little Rock, and led the development of the Forest of Hope Family Justice Center, providing critical support for victims of domestic violence and human trafficking. For Fred, public service is about the fundamentals: making sure families can put food on the table, children have access to quality education, and communities are safe and supported. Now, he is running for Governor to carry those same values—faith, hard work, and community—into the state’s highest office. Fred Love believes Arkansas moves forward when leadership is grounded in service, focused on results, and committed to ensuring no one is left behind.
